Book Review: The Courage Map by Franziska Iseli

Franziska Iseli may be young, but her life experiences and the lessons she can teach all of us are perfectly exemplified by the text and theme of her book, The Courage Map. This book is a fun read that parallels the author's personal growth journey with an adventurous story of her motorbike ride along the historic Silk Road. The book follows her on this journey while she relays many lessons of courage and boldness to the reader.

For those that don't know, the Silk Road is more than 6,400km long and it certainly takes courage to make this journey on a motorbike!

The goal of this book is to help show the reader how to be more courageous, wipe out fear, and live the life you have always wanted. Franziska discusses many important concepts such as taking risks, loving others, being kind, trusting others (including yourself), letting go of negative expectations, and how fear can hold you back from experiencing an abundant life

She often says that "You are the author of your story." This means that life is what you make of it. You are in control of your own destiny. Furthermore, look for the good in everything because while bad things will happen to all of us, a positive perspective can make any situation better. Franziska also reminds us to have an open heart (in addition to an open mind).

One important part of the book is where Franziska discusses transforming your perspective to live more courageously. She says, "Your beliefs influence your actions. Your actions shape your habits. And your habits determine your results." This reminds me of some of the mental concepts described in T. Harv Ekar's book, The Millionaire Mindset. Although Franziska isn't talking about money in her book, the truths outlined in The Courage Map are clearly echoed by many other great authors and thinkers.

A concept that really resonated with me is that: "Unmet expectations often lead to fear-based thoughts, emotions, and behaviors."The Courage Map eloquently describes this, and many other, ideas.

I could easily quote many more excellent sections of The Courage Map, however, I will leave that to the reader. This book is packed full of great insights and perspectives; there's very likely something in the text for everyone. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking to add to their personal growth journey by finding more courage and boldness in their life.
